Easter was pretty low-key this year.  I had been out of town during the week leading up to it, and Steve didn't have Good Friday off.  I was on kid withdrawal so I took them to the zoo by myself on Good Friday.  That's always a gamble - I've done it before though.  It's getting easier to take them places by myself as they get older.  Luckily, they were good, but apparently everyone else in Houston had the same idea... we got there not long after opening and the parking lots were FULL (there's tons of parking...).  Needless to say we didn't stop for any pictures, and left around 12:30 for our train ride that's become a staple of zoo visits.  Really glad that we have a membership so I don't feel bad when we ditch early like that.

Tyson had really been looking forward to Easter, he understands how many days away something is now (instead of it having to be tomorrow).  Here they were before church:

After we got back - the Easter Bunny had come and brought them pool/ swimming gifts this year!  Someone at work gave the Easter Bunny that idea and they liked it a lot!

During the hunt! Tyson was hilarious, he even slide tackled Hailey once to get an egg (we told him he needed to let her get some and slow down, but in the coming years it may turn into full-contact egg hunts if we let them)

The kids after they got all of their loot!  Tyson still hasn't opened any of his eggs.  He says he wants his Easter basket to stay "heavy."  Fine with us!  Hailey would eat all of her candy in one sitting if we let her.

Post hunt discoveries...

spring fling 2012

After Tyson's second soccer game, we headed over to Primrose for their annual Spring Fling carnival with Grandma and Grandpa.  Tyson got to ride the ponies twice!  Hailey was a little unsure about them and decided to take an extra train ride instead.

Riding the train with Grandma and Grandpa

They both got their hair sprayed and got to play some carnival games!
Tyson also got to dunk the school director in the dunking booth and got a huge kick out of that.  Hailey's little dance class had a showcase but unfortunately it was at the same time as the soccer game.  She got to sneak in for a few minutes on an older class's showcase while we were there though (Ms. Crystal waved her on to come in).  We were only there for an hour but it was just long enough... it was hot that day and we were all ready for lunch!!

soccer 2012

Tyson asked us a few months ago if he could play soccer this year.  We tried 3 year old soccer and it was a disaster... largely because the league was so bad.  So we took a year off last year.  This time we tried the YMCA after some good feedback from neighbors.  Steve took him to their first practice, where they found out the team didn't have a coach yet.  They asked for volunteers and... [crickets]... Steve ended up volunteering.  Go team Kansas City!!
The kids take turns playing goalie each quarter - Tyson's turn!

Here he is doing a corner kick
I mostly take short videos during the games but until I have a good one of Tyson either scoring a goal or blocking one, I'll hold out on those :)

Tyson has been lucky, Jammy and Papa caught part of the first game and Grandma and Grandpa came to the second one!  Lots of fans to cheer him on!
